About the Film Fest

Film is a powerful medium to inspire reflection and change and it’s within this that the Deconstructing Dinner Film Fest finds its roots. The event is built upon the belief that when a community gathers together over many days to expand our awareness of food, that we will become stronger in our efforts to cultivate a resilient and vibrant local food culture.

The Film Fest was created by Jon Steinman, the writer and host of the Deconstructing Dinner television/web series and radio/podcast series.

The festival features food documentaries from around the world and hosts many food-focused celebratory events. The festival has been hosted five times since 2012 in Nelson, Rossland and Kaslo, British Columbia.
