About the Film Fest

Film is a powerful medium to inspire reflection and change and it’s within this that the Deconstructing Dinner Film Fest finds its roots. The event is built upon the belief that when a community gathers together over many days to expand our awareness of food, that we will become stronger in our efforts to cultivate a resilient and vibrant local food culture.

The Film Fest was created by Jon Steinman, the writer and host of the Deconstructing Dinner television/web series and radio/podcast series.

Now entering its fifth year in Nelson, British Columbia, the 2017 festival will feature 12 films spread out over 8 days between November 1 thru 12. This year, the festival expands to offer 6 days in Nelson, 1 day in Rossland and 1 day in Kaslo. As usual, live musicians and local purveyors of good food and drink will be featured throughout the event.
